HINTS & TIPS FOR RACE DAY

Last Minute Checklist.

  • Check your bike to make sure everything’s in working order especially :
    • Brakes working
    • Tyre pressure’s ok
    • Spare inner tube/tools and pump in case of a puncture.
    • Spare pair of swimming goggles in case strap snaps on race morning.
    • Drinks bottle for bike.
    • Bike helmet ok /    NO BIKE HELMET = NO RACE
    • £5.00 For Purchase of DAY LICENCE / NO DAY LICENCE = NO RACE
    • Read Race Pack details one more time

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1 -  What is a Day Licence and do I need one?

A 1 – The day licence ensure you have 3rd party insurance on race day. You will need the Day Licence.
if you do not have a valid Welsh/British Triathlon Membership Licence

Q2 – How do I get hold of a Day Licence ?

A2 – The day licence should have been purchased when you entered at £8.00 – if this wasn’t the case you can purchase one at Registration on race weekend.

Q3 – What do I wear for the swim ?

A3 – You can wear your swimsuit (e.g trunks) or a Trisuit for the swim. If your wear trunks then you
will need to wear a cycling top or T-Shirt for the bike & run. Ladies can wear their swimsuit if
they wish.

Q4 – Can I change into dry clothes before the bike ?

A4 – You can but you will have to change in the dressing room – No nudity allowed in Transition.

Q5 – Will the bike racks in Transition have my race number on ?

A5 – No the bike racking will not be numbered – you can place your bike anywhere on the racking  but please  give  consideration to your fellow competitors.

Q6 – There’s a long run from the pool to Transition – can I wear my trainers ?

A6 – You can if you want but the path will have been brushed down before hand. Just make sure
your trainers aren’t in the way of other competitors.

Q7 – Will there be a drinks station out on the Run ?

A7 – As this is a 5Km run there will not be a drinks station out on the run. You will have been taking
fluids on board during the bike and we will have water available at the end.

Q8 – I noticed that there were traffic lights on the bike course ?

A8 – Yes we’ve been in constant touch with the Council and we are hopeful that they won’t be there
on Sunday morning. Changing the course hasn’t been an option as there are temporary traffic
lights everywhere!!. If they are then we will have a marshall at these lights and if you are
forced to stop your race number will be taken and the time deducted from your finish time.

Q9 – What if I decide to cycle through the red lights because I can see it’s quiet ?

A9 – You will be Disqualified – you have to obey the highway code unless instructed otherwise by
the Police.

Q10 – What happens if I can’t complete the course ?

A10 – Please let them know when you get back to Transition and inform Registration.

Q11 – What is Drafting ?

A11 – Drafting is when you cycle to closely to the cyclist in front. We will have three motorbike.
referees out on the course who will warn cyclists that are drafting and if they are caught a
second time they will be disqualified.

Q12 – Can family and friends go out on the course to support us ?

A12 – Yes they can support you on the course – don’t forget that the Car Park is closed though
between 8:00am and 11:00am or until the last cyclist is back.
