PEONY BREAST CARE UNIT
We have known Viv Jones for several years and she has on countless occasions helped volunteer at our events for several years regardless of the weather conditions. She is an active member of Sospan Road Runners and Bynea CC.
We always like to support Local Charities where we have a close connection and therefore when we approached Viv knowing that she was diagnosed back in August 2023 with Breast Cancer she immediately proposed we supported Hywel Dda Charities and the Peony Breast Care Unit in particular and we are of course very proud to do so.
“Having just completed the London Marathon in April 2023 followed by several triathlons, being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the August came as quite a shock! It certainly put many things into perspective for me & I’m so thankful for the care and prompt treatment given to me by my surgeon and all the team at Peony Breast Care Unit & the Chemo Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital. It’s been a rough road but there’s now an end in sight and I’ll be lacing up my daps again asap! I’ve been fortunate to recently have good news post op & am now at Stage 1, but my thoughts also go to those having a tougher time or who we’ve sadly lost. I’ve learned that this awful disease doesn’t discriminate so even if you’re fit & healthy, please don’t forget to check yourself regularly & get anything untoward investigated!
