Race Pack

Please read the event instructions in full :

  • The race will be held under UK Athletics rules.
  • The Registration marquee will be at St Catherine’s Walk shopping Center in Carmarthen – you will be able to collect your Electronic Timing Chip from here. Please bring your race number with you. The race numbers will be posted out 1st class on September 14th.
  • Registration will open at 7:30am for you to collect your timing chips – please don’t leave it until the last minute.
  • The Race will start on St Catherine’s Street opposite the Debenham’s store and will finish at the center of St Catherine’s Walk Shopping Center.

  • There is ample car parking near St Catherine’s Walk shopping Center. The numerous car parks within Carmarthen are all within easy walking distance of the Race Start and a site map can be viewed on our website together with some additional information.
  • Toilet facilities will be provided at the event and will be positioned behind Frankie’s & Benny’s on the service road.
  • To minimise any delays please be AT LEAST 1 HOUR EARLY
  •  The Merlin Festival Half Marathon will Start at 9:00am and will take place around the streets of Carmarthen and the surrounding local communities and countryside.
  • At the start please ensure your starting position matches your pace – i.e. slower runners must position themselves towards the back of the field.
  • This is a one loop course and there will be mile markers in place. We will have three water stations on route together with water at the finish line. 
  • There will be professional photographers at the event – don’t forget to give a smile when passing the camera especially at the finish (if possible).
  • There are 4 categories for both male and female participants. Senior (below 40 years) V40, V50 and V60 for the men, senior (below 35 years) V35, V45 and V55 for the women. Only one trophy per person.
  • Cash prizes will be awarded to the first male and female athlete to cross the finish line. Trophies will be awarded to the first three to finish in each of the categories. All entrants will receive a TShirt after finishing and an additional surprise race memento.
  • The race number is supplied as part of this pack. Numbers must be worn on the front – please supply your own safety pins.
  • There will be an announcement 10 minutes prior to the start of the event; when participants must report to the start line of their event. A safety de-brief will be given at this time. At the race finish participants are encouraged to leave the finish area as quickly as possible.
  • PLEASE ENSURE your race timing chip is retuned at the end of the event. There will be collection boxes near the finish line for you to place the chip into.
  • Winning race results will be provided at the prize giving ceremony soon after the main event has finished. All other race results will be posted onto the event web site.
  • There will be light refreshments available at the event to include teas, coffees, soft drinks and light snacks.
